Stage over the pool on the ship's deck with the New York skyline at a Viking christening

The Norwegian-owned cruise line Viking Cruises creates grand and memorable occasions when it names its ships, and Kulturoperatørene has produced Viking ship christenings in several places – Bergen, Tromsø, Malta, New York and Trieste. In New York in 2023, to showcase the skyline and the city's cultural character, we built a stage over the ship's rooftop pool, where stars from the New York Metropolitan Opera entertained the invited guests with New York as the backdrop. The most recent christening took place in Trieste in 2024, with Sissel Kyrkjebø.
